These are the songs that birthed hope in me in my waiting season when it seems all hope is lost, that gave me strength when I see no reason to move on and built my trust in God. Songs that calm my raging soul when doubts and fear seems to overwhelm me
2018/2019 was a tough year for me, the waiting season wasn’t easy because I literally have my life planned for myself. From the year I will graduate from the university to when I will start my masters and starting my career, everything was in motion.
SONG REVIEW- LITTLE TOY GUNS
Fast forward to 2018, I have not gained admission for my desired course, I kept writing jamb back to back but all to know avail, all my plans to graduate at a particular age just went out of the window. So in 2018, I wrote JAMB again and my hope was so high, like this was my year and I will be given admission. Alas the admission list came out towards the end of 2018 and my name was not on the list.
I was crushed!
My hope was shattered and I cried for weeks non stop because I didn’t understand why my name was not on the list.
I kept asking God why me again? I didn’t understand why the door was shut. I just turned to my music album and started listening to gospel songs to console myself and Holy Spirit ministered to me and I let go of my anger, of the disappointment and the pain.
Trust in You by Lauren Daigle resonated with my spirit and I kept repeating the chorus;
“When You don’t move the mountains I’m needing You to move
When You don’t part the waters
I wish I could walk through
When You don’t give the answers
As I cry out to You
I will trust, I will trust, I will trust in You”
Peace by Hillsong Young and Free cast out my doubts and fear and the peace of God filled my soul, body and spirit
All these songs listed above ministered greatly to me during my waiting season.
The important lesson I learnt in this season was “Trusting God means trusting His timing and also trusting His NO and trusting His plan for my life. The Bible says in Jeremiah 29:11(NIV) For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
The right songs in the seasons of life brings hope, joy, faith and peace.
