This wasn’t a planned one. It dropped in my heart to write this before my prayers today as I was ruminating on why majority of Christians still depended on external motivation to live the faith life. Before you think this is strange, read on. This used to be me and I can tell you that ever since I decided to make prayer my utmost priority few months back, I’ve never needed external motivation from an article or a person. It’s profound! If you knew me in secondary school up until my University days and we lived together, you’d realise that I wasn’t always motivated. I know you’d say the average person never was but that’s the point. God never created us to be like that. He created us for fellowship with Him!!! It’s either I slept too much, I was always forgetful or I cared too much about other people’s opinions and my mom would always complain especially when it came to getting myself up and ready lol.

As I grew began understanding basic spirtual truths, started praying and fellowshipping with my Father more, I didn’t need any Monday motivation to get me going. Many times the push and motivation we need are to be gotten from the place of prayer. In prayer, we stir/build up ourselves (Jude 20). We’ve not prayed enough hence the shyness we exhibit(which we sometimes hide from others). I don’t know about you but Everytime I pray now, I know that I’m effecting some changes. I get directions and instructions. I know what to do, who to meet and most importantly what to pray for. I am making the inherent power in me available as I pray!!! James 5:16 is one verse that emphasizes this:

Therefore, confess your sins to one another [your false steps, your offenses], and pray for one another, that you may be healed and restored. The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man (believer) is able to accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power].
James 5:16 AMP

You must know that you carry God’s power on your inside. The same power that raised Christ from the dead now lives in you. Not just because I say so but because the Word says so!! Dear believer, this is and should be your everyday reality. Maybe your prayers have been unexciting and boring because you didn’t know these or you’ve not allowed these truths sink in just yet. Don’t worry, you can get better by believing much more in the truth of God’s word. That’s why you should know these and pray more! You should stir up yourself more by praying on the Spirit! The earlier we understood that God created us for His pleasure and we carry power, we won’t want to miss out on spending time to sit consciously to pray and hear from Him!!

Dear Believer, stir yourself up!

It’s not up to God but your responsibility! Stir yourself up! Charge yourself up! Pray in the Spirit!

So much power resides in you yet to be put to work! Stir yourself up, build up yourself. Pray would be a delight for you in no time!

In the next, I’d expatiate more on certain truths that formed the basis of this post. How have you been praying? What did you think prayer was about? Is your prayer time a time of delight or have you been dreading it? Let me know in the comment section or send me a message via any of my social media platforms
